Designers
The solar economy, the solar village, the solar lifestyle will require a rethinking of all of our designed systems. All of the ideas and concepts for creating sustainable communities exist today. It is the task of designers to creatively deploy, innovate, and transform the integration of these ideas into everyday life. Designers must think primarily of the solar age ahead and design for it:
- Eliminate the use of fossil fuel based products, energy sources, and their by-products.
- Make all design based on natural laws that dictate cycles of growth, decay and rebirth within cycles limited by the solar energy from the sun.
- All of life is intimately connected to nature which must then necessarily be reflected in the design.
- Design products, whether they be personal computers, DVD players, games, food products, homes, communities, manufacturing plants, toys, fabrics, clothes, trains, cars...everything and anything;to be powered exclusively by renewable solar based energy sources while allowing for the organic reuse or biodegradable disposal.
These are incredibly challenging criteria for design. By being so they require the most creative, holistic, systematic, beautiful, intelligent and detailed thinking in design. The Solar Village, a solar powered world is possible, beautiful and necessary. Just look at the basis of life on this space ship we call earth. All of the answers exist in the dynamic entity called life which is and must be solar powered.
