Dr. Hermann Scheer describes the critical reasons why solving the energy problem must be done with 100% renewable energy. Canada is challenged to lead the world by becoming the first country to become 100% powered by renewable energy. The case for making the entire world work on 100% renewable energy is made clearly. The proof that Canada could be powered within 5 years by 100% renewable energy is demonstrated by the fact that the current renewable energy generation installed by Germany in the last eight years is as much as the current demand of Ontario Canada which has less than half the population and much more land.

"Because of existing Hydro potential it’s possible that within 5 years Canada could meet its electricity needs with a 100% renewable system by a complimentary mix of hydro and wind,” Scheer says. “The economic and technical capacity exists; you just need the political will and policy framework! You could do this faster than the construction of any nuclear power plant and create far greater benefits!" he adds.
